Job Description:

The PM Tactical Network/PdM Mission Network Core Group has a need for network engineers that will serve as mid-level shift personnel on a Network Team to perform the daily tasks and network functions at the Global Agile Integrated Transport (GAIT) Network Support Center (NSC). The candidates fulfilling these functions must be fully knowledgeable in the PM Tactical Network tactical terminals routing, switching, and firewalls management from a planning, implementation and troubleshooting perspective. The GAIT NSC Network Team is based out of the Fort Detrick, Maryland (Fredrick Maryland) area. This Team operates as a component of the larger GAIT NSC Team on a 24 x 7 x 365 basis.

GAIT is a colorless (transport) MPLS network that connects each of the Army Regional Hub Nodes (RHNs), multiple DoD Teleports (SATCOM only), and other points of presence together in support of a global tactical network. This network supports the U.S. Army in training, contingency and operational missions on a global scale. GAIT enable’s Commanders to set the conditions of the operational environment and has enormous impact on Battlespace awareness in terms of data dissemination, transmission, and access that ultimately empowers the forward-edge soldier with critical Mission Command Systems (MCS) laterally across adjacent units and thru their higher headquarters and to lower Tactical Operations Centers (TOC) by transporting information to include Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) data.

The GAIT Network Team will be responsible for GAIT mission planning, engineering, implementation, cyber security and troubleshooting as required to support users requiring GAIT services to include RHNs down to the Tactical-Edge. Knowledge of the PM Tactical Network (formerly PM WIN-T) architecture is required. All candidates must be able to identify with the baseband networking functions in the various tactical formations of the WIN-T network including configuration and the implementation processes and procedures associated with each. The candidate must have the ability to assess, prioritize, and triage various network outages or degradation and execute remediation in a quick and resourceful manner.

An in-depth knowledge of IP networking and processes is mandatory. The candidate must possess knowledge that is on-par with a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification, but the certification is not a requirement for the position. Holding technical positions inside a Division, Corps, or echelon above Corps NetOps or Engineering Team experience is a bonus.
